FUNCTIONAL MOBILITY FOR CIRCUS TRAINING
This all-level workshop is an ideal space for adult circus students, artists, and professionals (aerial and ground) seeking strategies to ensure a sustainable, pleasurable circus training practice. Using the principles of Functional Range Conditioning with some strategies from the Postural Restoration Institute, this workshop will take students through a progression that bridges isolated joint mobility training and breath work to familiar circus movement shapes and pathways (overhead arm coordination, end range hip and spine coordination). If you’re someone who loves circus and can’t figure out how to improve your pike, mitigate your clicking hip or pinching shoulder, this workshop will help give you tools to zoom in and out to find isolation and integration of the sticky spots. This workshop is a combination of brief lecture and applied movement, followed by a fully guided mobility class and question/answer period. There are no prerequisites except curiosity!
Typical Workshops are 2 hours, timing can be shortened or lengthened to include or streamline different material.
